The following is meant to give a general overview of each league.

6u Baseball

  • Developmental league, teach the basics of catching, batting, throwing, running bases and learn field positions.
  • Players provided with Minor league logo shirt and hat.
  • 10 to 12 players per team.
  • Coach’s generally practice 2 to 4 time prior to season, then no more than 1 day per week during season. Some coaches do not practice once season starts.
  • 6U Baseball teams do participate in Opening Day Parade
  • Equipment needed: glove, bat, batting helmet (Team bats and batting helmets will be available), baseball or soccer cleats.
  • Play approximately 10 games. 2 games per week. Generally, 1 during week at 5:30  or 7 pm, and 1 on Saturday. No recreation games are played on Wednesday or Sunday.
  • Games will have a 1 hour 15 minute time limit. Which, normally allows for 3 innings
  • Season starts in middle of May. No weekday late games until school out. Season ends first week in July.
  • Batting – a player will be thrown 5 pitches from his team’s coach, if none are hit in the field of play, a player will then hit off a Tee until hitting a ball into the field of play. If a player’s batted ball results in an out, the player is out and will return to dugout. The entire team bats each innings. So a team could feasibly have 10 or 12 outs.
  • Fielding – all players in field each inning. Fill infield position then spread the rest out in outfield. Players should get opportunities to play different positions though out the year.
  • No score is kept.
